John Friend Jr. of "Friend's Delight" Sang Run, Maryland  Other New Books

We are pleased to announce the next book in our series on the Friend Family

John Friend Jr.
of
“Friend’s Delight”
Sang Run, Maryland

by
Dr. Patrick T. Smith

John Friend Jr. spent his youth in the late 18th century wilderness of Western Maryland.  John Friend Jr., his wife Elizabeth Ward and their thirteen children would eventually settle on a tract of land called “Friend’s Delight” in Sang Run, MD. John Friend Jr. left no dairies or personal papers, which could be used to define the man and his time. There are no known photographs or descriptions of John or his wife Elizabeth.  This book attempts to chronicle the lives of John Friend Jr. and Elizabeth Ward as well as thousands of their descendents through US Census records, family bibles, land deeds, wills, photographs, personal histories and death certificates.  Due volume of information, two of John Jr.’s sons (Cornelius Ward and Elijah) will be featured in separate books in the near future.  Cornelius Ward and Elijah Friend, as well as their descendents, are briefly outlined in this book.  This book is the promised continuation of Patty (Friend) Thompson’s “John Friend Sr. of Friendsville, MD”. The primary goal of this work is to preserve this history before it is lost to time. This reference book is comprised of 524 pages, fully indexed and presented in an outline format.  The author openly welcomes and encourages any additions and/or corrections to this information. Pat Smith can be contacted through the Friend Family Association of America (FFAA) at Friendsville, MD or by e-mail through the FFAA web-site (www.friendfamilyassociation.com ).

The initial cost of printing the book has been donated to the FFAA.  Proceeds from the sale of this book will go to the FFAA (a non-profit organization).  All book sales are tax deductible. Each book in the initial offering will be signed by the author.
